Born and raised on Staten Island, Albert Di Meglio has been cooking Italian food since he first learned from his grandmother as a kid. Born and raised on Staten Island, Albert Di Meglio has been cooking Italian food since he first learned from his grandmother as a kid. After graduating Top of his class from the New York Restaurant School, Di Meglio worked his way from reopening Windows on the World up to and including the World Famous Le Cirque 2000 as Executive Sous Chef, where he cooked for four years before returning to his Italian roots. In 2000, Di Meglio was promoted by Sirio Maccioni to oversee the kitchen at Osteria del Circo. Before taking over as Executive Chef, Sirio sent Di Meglio on a culinary excursion to Tuscany, where he explored local cuisine, staging at several Michelin Star rated restaurants, including Enoteca Pinchiorri in Florence and Ristorante Romano in Viareggio.

After several more years honing his skills in positions as Executive Chef of the Ritz Carlton, traveling and cooking abroad in Thailand and Russia, opening the former Olana restaurant, Di Meglio landed at beloved NoLiTa pizzeria Rubirosa, where he served as chef/partner for four years, furthering the restaurant’s reputation as one of NYC’s premiere pizzerias/Italian American restaurants. Di Meglio has since taken his talents to Brooklyn newcomer Barano, as chef/partner, where he serves a seasonal menu of new Italian cuisine, anchored by a wood-fired grill, rotisserie and oven, along with homemade pastas, pizza and hand pulled mozzarella made-to-order.
