Biography

Chef Asif R. Syed was born and raised near Hyderabad, India, known as the ancient City of Kings and Pearls and famous for its Muglai cuisine. Originally drawn to art and painting, Chef Asif trained and worked as a chef in India after completing his degree in hotel management and catering. Chef Asif R. Syed was born and raised near Hyderabad, India, known as the ancient City of Kings and Pearls and famous for its Muglai cuisine. Originally drawn to art and painting, Chef Asif trained and worked as a chef in India after completing his degree in hotel management and catering. His progressive style of fusion cooking was developed and honed after spending time travelling and working in Europe. He learned to blend classic techniques with the exotic tastes acquired during his travels into his signature culinary style. For the past 14 years, he has been the award-winning Executive Chef at the Hilton Marco Island Beach Resort. In 2013 and 2015, Chef Asif was named the winner of the Tampa Bay International Curry Festival. He has worked with many celebrity chefs around the globe and, in October 2015, Chef Asif was a competitor on Food Network’s popular cooking competition, Guy’s Grocery Games, hosted by Guy Fieri.

Aloo Chana Chaat

Ingredients:

Idaho potatoes ( peeled and diced )
Garbanzo beans ( soaked overnight and cooked )
diced heirloom tomatoes ( small diced )
cilantro ( chopped )
red onion (chopped)
lemon juice ( freshly Squeezed)
curry powder
pomegranate ( garnish )
vegetable oil
salt & cayenne pepper powder

Directions:

1) Soak garbanzo beans overnight, boil till its tender and cool it down
2) Peel potatoes, cut small dices and boil firm and cool it down
3) Small dice onion and tomatoes
4) Mix in bowl garbanzo beans, potatoes, onions, tomatoes, chopped cilantro, curry powder, lemon juice, vegetable oil, salt & cayenne
5) Plate by using a round mold , garnish with yogurt and pomegranate
