Carlos Castillo was born in Honduras and grew up in Corona, Queens where he was influenced by its diversity. He is a hospitality professional with over 10 years of experience. He graduated from the City University of New York’s College of Technology with a Bachelors in Hospitality Management. While in school he started his career as a dishwasher then line cook at Chelsea Pier’s Abigail Kirsch Catering and soon after he graduated, he started to work for Sodexo. Carlos Castillo was born in Honduras and grew up in Corona, Queens where he was influenced by its diversity. He is a hospitality professional with over 10 years of experience. He graduated from the City University of New York’s College of Technology with a Bachelors in Hospitality Management. While in school he started his career as a dishwasher then line cook at Chelsea Pier’s Abigail Kirsch Catering and soon after he graduated, he started to work for Sodexo. He became general manager at JFK’s Swiss Airlines’ first-class lounge then moved on to a signature account, Unilever where he was food & beverage director. It is at Sodexo that he met one of his business partners, Fernando Campo. In the summer of 2017, they opened a Food Trailer in Jersey City where they served mouthwatering brisket on hand pressed Nixtamal tortillas. Today, Carlitos Barbecue Taqueria is located in Paramus, at the Garden State Plaza mall, and you can find the Carlitos crew at Smorgasburg World Trade Center on Fridays and Sundays. Carlos believes that food and culture brings people together and hopes to spread this message through his food.
