Biography

Graduated in 2010 From Johnson & Wales, before graduating he opened a restaurant in the summer of 2009 Marco Polo Take Out. Not all restaurants in Brooklyn have a Johnson & Wales-trained owner/chef, but with Marco Chirico, he was immersed in the restaurant biz since age 11.

Marco Polo Take Out was later swapped to a wine bar called, Enoteca on Court. “Enoteca” is Italian for “wine repository,” and the restaurant/wine bar boasts an extensive international wine list at reasonable prices, as well as flights of wine. Their brick oven does double duty, not only turning out the most marvelous brick oven pizza but also serving up other scrumptious menu items with a distinctive brick oven flavor. This shared plate restaurant features charcuterie and cheese plates, salads, pasta dishes, Panini’s, and of course calzones. The grappa (a liqueur) and gelato is even house made!

After graduating from college in 2010, Marco Chirico went to help his father manage Marco Polo Ristorante, which has been open since 1983. While gaining experience working as a manager and chef, Marco Chirico joined The New York State Restaurant Association and became a board member whom helps boost his knowledge and networking in the industry. In the year 2013, Marco and his father Joseph Chirico, decided to revamp the old school Marco Polo Ristorante, to a renewed and modern touch due to the success Enoteca on Court took on in the Neighborhood. Marco also gave the menu a few modern twists by keeping some classics and adding some new Italian dishes to the menu, while kept the menu light and seasonal.

Marco Chirico, have made appearances on several TV shows like Fox, Pix 11, NBC, NYCTV, major newspapers, and some prestigious rewards also being Michelin Recommended for Enoteca on Court. Also Marco was recently rewarded from the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce for Ospitalita Italiana for authenticity and quality of food.

Marco Chirico, has now become Executive Board Member for New York State Restaurant Association who is an advocate in leading the fight to help restaurants.
