Biography

Dean Medico, pizzaiolo and creative force of Pizza Luca, learned the art of French and Italian cooking at The French Culinary Institute, now the International Culinary Center. Inspired by his Italian roots of the Campagnia and Puglia regions, he began building distinctive 1952 Chevy trucks with full-scale, wood-burning ovens in 2011.

Pizza Luca is a Pizza Napoletana catering Truck Company, featuring a boutique-style menu. In 2012 Pizza Luca was awarded the “Snail of Approval” by the Slow Food organization (Italy), recognizing those who contribute to the quality, and authenticity of the food we eat.

Dean has appeared in two seasons of the program, Extra Virgin, on the Cooking Channel and has been featured in Entrepreneur magazine, Serious Eats, The Daily Meal and Thrillist. Dean takes his cooking methods seriously, adhering to the guidelines set by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana, (The Association of True Neapolitan Pizza) and thus using only D.O.P. San Marzano tomatoes, Caputo 00 flour, and buffalo milk mozzarella.
