Dylana is a passionate food enthusiast, trained chef, and culinary arts instructor in the inner city of New York with more than ten years of experience. Dylana finds it vital to educate her students about food justice and social entrepreneurship with the hope of becoming a vehicle for change. Her passion for culinary is tied to her Caribbean roots; fusing traditional recipes with some of her very own. Growing up, Dylana watched her mom and granny prepare for baking by soaking fruits in wine, grating fresh coconut, zesting limes, and measuring ingredients by sight and intuition. During her early years, she set her intentions on exploring the inner workings of culinary.
Prior to becoming the CEO of Dylana’s Sweet Treats Inc., she shared the beginning stages of her now-famous bread pudding with trusted family, friends, and colleagues. Despite positive reviews, she knew the recipe wasn’t complete. For Dylana, the key to a prized treat is both never-ending flavor and palatable texture.
Now as she works alongside her mother and family to build an empire, she is reminded of her childhood chant, “I’m a baker, I’m a chef.” Dylana hopes to instill her core values of integrity and perseverance in her children.
