Our Chef Fanerra Dupree trained at Johnson & Wales University for Culinary Arts, has been in the industry for fifteen years and has worked her way up from a line cook in two five-star hotels, to Sous Chef in an international VIP lounge, has opened several locations alongside other chefs, and for the last five years has been the Executive chef within the flagship location Black Nile Seafood & Soul Food.

She has prioritized, while growing the business, her efforts to make Black American, Muslim, Female Chefs the norm in America. Her menus and recipes are a combination of her southern background, Islamic beliefs, and the meals her husband has helped her adapt over their twelve-year marriage. These flavors have helped Black Nile receive amazing customer reviews, a mention in the Washington Post, Black Owned Brooklyn, Crain’s New York, Huff Post, Courier Magazine, and features on blogs with a combined four million followers. She’s also competed on two Food Network shows and been featured on a Discovery+ documentary-based show exploring the cuisines that make America.
