Biography

Israel worked his way up in the industry; from being a dishwasher to bussing table to eventually opening up his restaurant. He was born in the Bronx but moved back to Puebla, Mexico when he was ten. In 2004, at the age of 15, the young Latino came back to the Bronx along with his mother and two brothers to escape the violence in Mexico.

What is your favorite NYC restaurant? And what is your go-to dish? My favorite NYC restaurant will have to be Suyo, a hidden gem in the Bronx! My go to meal will defiantly be there charred octopus with sausage Quinoa. What is your ultimate meal? My ultimate meal will be my mother's enchiladas! What three things are always in your pantry? Epoziote(a Mexican herb), corn tortilla and jasmine rice. If you weren't a chef, what would you be? An accountant, I love math! If you could cook with anyone, who would that be? My grandma.
