Michael Chernow has been thinking entrepreneurial for as long as he can remember. He began working in restaurants at the young age of 13 in NYC, and has worked every position in the industry for 15 years until he opened his first restaurant. He has been working in hospitality for last 25 years. Michael Chernow has been thinking entrepreneurial for as long as he can remember. He began working in restaurants at the young age of 13 in NYC, and has worked every position in the industry for 15 years until he opened his first restaurant. He has been working in hospitality for last 25 years. In 2007 Michael enrolled in French Culinary Institute FCI, graduated with honors, and was awarded an Associates Degree in both culinary arts and restaurant management in 2008. In February of 2009 Michael and Daniel Holzman opened The Meatball Shop. After a whirlwind of success in their first location at 84 Stanton Street, they took a stab at expanded their business over the bridge into Williamsburg Brooklyn on Bedford avenue opening in July 2011 and shortly there after opened their third Shop in the West village on Greenwich avenue in November of 2011. The guys continued expanding into the Chelsea, Upper East Side and Hells Kitchen neighborhoods of Manhattan. late in 2018, The Meatball Shop opened their first restaurant in Washington DC to great success, they have an 8th restaurant opening in Westport Connecticut in Q2 2019. In 2015, Michael Chernow decided to zoom out of the day to day operations at TMS and focus on a new concept he was eager to take a stab at, Seamore’s, a local, wild and sustainable seafood concept. He opened the first location in June of 2015 in the Nolita neighborhood, again to great success. After a year of success and accolade, Michael took on a partner, raised a series A round of capital and opened 5 more around NYC. Both restaurant concepts are considered NYC staples and institutions.

Michael has also developed a large following in the world of media through his passion for hospitality and outgoing authenticity. Michael was cast as the host for FYI’s T.V show Food Porn, which broadcasted 26 episodes. The series explored the country’s food scene with a nationwide search for the most popular “#foodporn” dishes. Michael has been featured in international and national publications, including GQ, Esquire, People, Food Network Magazine, The New York Times, FOOD & WINE, and the Wall Street Journal, as well as on television shows such as NBC’s TODAY Show, Late Night with Seth Myers, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Watch What Happens Live, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Beat Bobby Flay, Kitchen Casino, Good Morning America and Chelsea Lately. Chernow has also worked with some great brands including Lexus, Coach, Tag Heuer, Lucky Brand, Equinox, and Lululemon Athletica.
