Biography

Peter Mei moved from Hong Kong to NYC at the age of 11. He graduated from Baruch College with a Business degree with the intention of becoming a banker. After graduation Peter worked briefly for Banks in the corporate world and soon realized it wasn’t for him. Peter eventually left to pursue his dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. Peter Mei moved from Hong Kong to NYC at the age of 11. He graduated from Baruch College with a Business degree with the intention of becoming a banker. After graduation Peter worked briefly for Banks in the corporate world and soon realized it wasn’t for him. Peter eventually left to pursue his dreams of becoming an entrepreneur. In his route to do so, he took a trip back to Hong Kong, where he fell back in love with the iconic street snack: the bubble waffle. He teamed up with his partner, George Tang, where they both studied and learned the original recipes out in Hong Kong before bringing the concept back to NYC. Since then, they both established New Territories in 2016, where they introduce Hong Kong sweets with a bit of New York flavor.

What is your favorite NYC restaurant? And what is your go-to dish? My favorite restaurant is Minca Ramen, in the East Village. My go to dish is their Spicy Miso with Pork. What is your ultimate meal? Roasted Pork over Rice as it's a signature comfort food within my culture. What three things are always in your pantry? Soy Sauce, Oyster Sauce and Sriracha If you weren't a chef, what would you be?
