Rob is the passionate owner behind a remarkable culinary venture, Kalye, that brings the diverse flavors of the Philippines to the heart of New York City. His love for the city and Filipino culture drove him to contribute to Filipino representation in the United States through food and culture.

Rob’s journey to the United States began in 2017 when he was studying in Harvard. During his regular trips to New York City, he met Henry, and their chance encounter blossomed into a long- distance relationship. Despite the challenges, their love endured, and they knew they were destined to be together.

In 2020, Rob made the bold move to permanently settle in the United States, allowing him to fulfill his dream of introducing Filipino cuisine and culture to New Yorkers. With inspiration from his Filipino heritage and Henry’s desire to support those affected by the pandemic, they conceptualized Kalye, a restaurant that showcases vibrant Filipino flavors.

The restaurant’s menu is a reflection of Rob’s deep connection to his Filipino roots, featuring dishes like savory adobo, flavorful longganisa, and delectable ube pao. Kalye has become more than just a place to eat; it’s a symbol of love, determination, and resilience.
