Finding connection can be a challenge in a big city – but nothing really seems to bring people together like a good bottle of wine or a great meal in a place that encourages you to let loose and be taken care of. When Rome’s legendary Roscioli Salumeria con Cucina came to Ariel Arce’s MacDougal Street wine bar and restaurant Niche Niche for a week in December 2021, the seed was planted. Two years later, the result is the first outpost of Roscioli outside of Italy, with the Roscioli family, along with Rimessa Roscioli partner Alessandro Pepe, partnering with Arce to open Roscioli NYC.
The Roscioli family business began in 1972 with Antico Forno Roscioli, a 19th-century
bakery on Rome’s Via dei Chiavari. Today, they feature 300 cheeses, 200 cured meats and shelves lined with jars of highest-quality sauces, honeys and more, and oversee a cellar with over 2,500 bottles.
Roscioli NYC offers two experiences, Roscioli Tasting Menu is a dinner party and wine tasting experience with narrative driven wine pairings accompanying every course.
The street level space, known as the Alimentari, is the delicatessen, wine
bar, and market where you can order a selection of imported meats and cheeses, or one of the classic Roman pastas cooked to perfection (al dente).
As the Rosciolis like to say in Italian, “Alle fine si parla di pane e salame,” which
translates to “it’s just bread and salami.”
