Ryan was born and raised in Rhode Island where he attended Johnson & Wales University’s culinary arts program. Ryan has traveled throughout the U.S., working at restaurants in Rhode Island, California, Atlanta, New Orleans, Hawaii, and New York. He was the opening Executive Chef of Buttermilk Channel Restaurant in Brooklyn, where he met Buttermilk Channel Owner, Doug Crowell. In 2014, he opened French Louie as the Chef/Owner with Doug.
