Biography

Born to a family of cooks and bakers in Naples, Italy, Salvatore Marcello’s passion for cooking was ignited early. His talent and passion took him from the Quisisana in Capri, to Rocco Forte hotels in Frankfurt and Berlin, and to The Richemond in Geneva, where he was named Sous Chef only 18 months after he began working for the hotel group. It was during his time at The Richemond that Salvatore met Michelin-starred chef Fulvio Pierangelini of the world-renowned Gambero Rosso. Born to a family of cooks and bakers in Naples, Italy, Salvatore Marcello’s passion for cooking was ignited early. His talent and passion took him from the Quisisana in Capri, to Rocco Forte hotels in Frankfurt and Berlin, and to The Richemond in Geneva, where he was named Sous Chef only 18 months after he began working for the hotel group. It was during his time at The Richemond that Salvatore met Michelin-starred chef Fulvio Pierangelini of the world-renowned Gambero Rosso. Mr. Pierangelini, a consultant at the time, was seeking a right-hand man and was certain that Salvatore was the only man for the job.

In 2013, Salvatore returned to Geneva to open il Vero at the Grand Hotel Kempinski, as its Executive Chef. At il Vero, Salvatore received multiple accolades, and his face could often be found inside the covers of magazines and newspapers. Salvatore moved to New York in October 2016. Upon meeting Mike Mammoliti and the MAMO team, that he realized he had found his New York home, and a place to grow further and shine.
