Born in South Korea, raised in Chicago, and a USC graduate with a B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering, Tae is a self taught chef that began an underground tasting menu restaurant out of his apartment at USC with Jake. Quickly through word of mouth the 7-course operation outgrew his apartment so he moved it to 10e, a restaurant in DTLA utilizing a disused mezzanine. After graduation, he worked as an engineer in manufacturing and eventually into healthcare. In 2020 he took on the role of Co-Executive Head Chef/Culinary Director of G&G Hospitality with seven locations spread across LA, NYC and Southampton. In 2022, they opened Dirty Taco in Grand Central Terminal’s lower dining concourse next to Shake Shack and Magnolia Bakery. Soon thereafter, they started to host TacOmakase, their take on a tasting menu, sharing flavors from their experiences, travels, and telling stories through the vehicle of tacos in GCT.
