Matt Wonski owns Town Hall Delicatessen; The Birthplace of the Sloppy Joe Sandwich.

Matt is a two-term member of the South Orange Village Center Alliance (SOVCA), the volunteer not-for-profit management entity of our Village’s Special Improvement District since 2014. During his tenure, Matt served as treasurer of the SOVCA from July 2017 to July 2018.

Born in Queens, New York and raised South Orange, Matt is the youngest of three children. He attended Seton Hall Prep, and studied at Montclair State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Food Sciences, with a concentration in Food Management.

Matt commenced his food career during his sophomore year of high school, when he began working in local restaurants, holding a variety of positions; dishwasher, busboy, then waiter. at several establishments in South Orange, such as: Cafe Arugula, Bottagara South, and Antonella’s. He also worked for Sodexo during college. After completing his studies, his culinary and business expertise allowed him to redesign and relocate the Town Hall Deli to its present location in South Orange, NJ.
