Born in Shanghai, Chi comes from a family with culinary traditions. When he finished his Master’s degree from Columbia University, Chi Zhang founded YASO with his high school classmate Jiahao Gu YASO is the first brand name Shanghainese fast-casual restaurant in the United States serving Xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), noodles, and other Shanghainese street eats. Now YASO has 5 locations: two in Brooklyn, two in Manhattan, and one in Jersey City, NJ.
