Inspired by the beautiful, crusty loaves of bread he found in Italy, Jim Lahey set out to make his own stateside, opening his now-famous Sullivan Street Bakery in SoHo in 1994. He opened a second outpost in Chelsea in 2012 followed by Co., an Italian artisan and pizza shop where he whips up Roman-style pizza, rustic Italian pastries, cookies and more. He’s especially renowned for his “no-knead bread” recipe, which inspired two books: My Bread: The Revolutionary No-Work, No-Knead Method and My Pizza: The Easy No-Knead Way to Make Spectacular Pizza at Home.
Join Jim Lahey, the first-ever recipient of the Outstanding Baker James Beard Award, to learn the tricks and techniques to make his famous no-knead bread at home. You’ll discover how to make this crusty, flavorful loaf known for its crackling crust, open-holed crumb and light texture. The class will conclude with a sampling of your delicious creations and you’ll leave with the skills to impress friends and family with fresh, crusty loaves for years to come.
