Inspired by the beautiful, crusty loaves of bread he found in Italy, Jim Lahey set out to make his own stateside, opening his now-famous Sullivan Street Bakery in SoHo in 1994. In 2009, he opened Co., an Italian artisan and pizza shop where he whips up Roman-style pizza, rustic Italian pastries, cookies and more, followed by the opening of a Chelsea outpost of Sullivan Street Bakery in 2012, He’s especially renowned for his “no-knead bread” recipe, which inspired two books: My Bread: The Revolutionary No-Work, No-Knead Method and My Pizza: The Easy No-Knead Way to Make Spectacular Pizza at Home.
