Description

Join Us for A Gathering of Women In and Out of the Kitchen featuring a Special Performance by Martina McBride

We're kicking off NYCWFF with a special event honoring women who are changing the game both in and out of the kitchen! Join us alongside Me Too movement creator and one of Time Magazine's most influential people of 2018, Tarana Burke, for a spirited salute to the women in food, beverage and entertainment who are carving a path for future generations.

This signature evening on the rooftop of Pier 92 will feature more than 25 of your favorite female chefs and personalities, plus top female mixologists from across New York City. To top off the evening, enjoy a powerful performance by Billboard country chart-topper and multi-time Grammy Award-nominee Martina McBride, who is also the author of Martina's Kitchen Mix: My Recipe Playlist for Real Life (Meredith Publishing, October 2018). American actress, writer, producer and comedian Wendi McLendon-Covey (The Goldbergs, Reno 911!) will also make a special guest appearance. Sip, savor and sway to the beats as you join us for the special collaboration to kick off the 11th annual Festival weekend and celebrate some of the most influential women in the industry.

About the Me Too movement: In 2006, Tarana Burke founded the Me Too movement to help survivors of sexual violence, particularly young women of color from low wealth communities, find pathways to healing. Using the idea of “empowerment through empathy,” the Me Too movement was ultimately created to ensure survivors know they're not alone in their journey.  For more information, visit https://metoomvmt.org/.

Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits, NYCWFF's exclusive provider of wine and spirits, is proud to host Tarana Burke and support the movement to bring greater diversity and inclusion to the hospitality industry.
