The restaurant and hospitality industry has made recent strides aimed at changing its landscape to recognize and honor its diverse community, but there is still work to be done.
There is an effort building among the industry to diversify and help carve a path to allow for women to be honored in their own right alongside their male counterparts and without the need for specific “female” categories. Prestigious publications such as Eater, Food & Wine and its annual “Best New Chefs in America” list, Bon Appetit and even the powerful committees that help decide the nominees and winners for the James Beard Awards are all taking steps towards inclusion and recognizing women-led restaurants and businesses.
Join thought leaders, media personalities and industry experts for a thoughtful discussion surrounding the desire to eliminate the “female chef” award category from global lists and the measures that can be taken to continue moving towards a more inclusive approach.
