Ahla Ko-Oh is the founder and baker behind Café Patoro, a Brazilian bakery café in New York City’s Seaport District dedicated to sharing the flavors and traditions of Brazil through handmade baked goods. Born in Seoul, raised in São Paulo, and now based in New York, Ahla brings a unique multicultural perspective to her cooking, blending her Korean-Brazilian heritage with her love for Brazilian cuisine.
After a career in banking, Ahla followed her passion for food and entrepreneurship to create Café Patoro, inspired by her mission to bring the perfect pão de queijo – Brazil’s beloved cheesy bread – to New Yorkers. Through years of dedication, experimentation, and a deep connection to her roots, she transformed this traditional Brazilian staple into a signature experience, offering classic and creative seasonal flavors alongside other Brazilian- inspired treats. Ahla’s cooking is rooted in nostalgia, hospitality, and the belief that food has the power to connect people and cultures. Through Café Patoro, she continues to share a taste of Brazil with the New York community, one bite at a time.
