Corporate Executive Chef Matthew Niessner has spent decades shaping the hospitality industry, leading
with equal strength inside and outside the kitchen. As a key member of the Hall Management Group,
home to the acclaimed Halls Chophouse, he oversees more than 10 properties while fostering the brand’s
signature culture of excellence.
Niessner’s career began at a young age when he was mentored by a head chef who inspired the leader
he would one day become. His path has taken him through celebrated kitchens, including The Princess
Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, and both The Dining Room at Osprey Point and The Sanctuary, in Kiawah
Island, South Carolina. He joined Halls Chophouse more than a decade ago, shortly after the Charleston
flagship’s opening, and has played an instrumental role in the group’s continued growth.
A believer in empowerment through mentorship, Niessner focuses on training, developing, and
encouraging the next generation of chefs. His leadership philosophy emphasizes healthy guidance and
growth, cultivating both skill and character in his teams.
Outside of his professional work, Niessner is deeply engaged in his community, supporting organizations
such as MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, MUSC Children’s Hospital, and the March of Dimes. A dedicated
family man with a passion for fishing, golfing, and boating, he balances his personal interests with a
commitment to service and hospitality.
Drawing from a diverse repertoire of international and classical American traditions, Niessner ensures that
every guest at each Halls location experiences not only exceptional cuisine but also the warm, welcoming
atmosphere that defines the hospitality group.
