Frank Kabatas is Owner and Operator of East Village Pizza, the popular New York-based pizzeria where tradition meets innovation. Immigrating from Turkey in 1997, Frank began his journey in the pizza industry as a delivery driver at East Village Pizza, where he tasted his very first slice of pizza and ignited his passion for the craft. Despite being fired after six months for a mistake he did not make, Frank persevered, transitioning through various roles at pizzerias across the city. After two years at a pizzeria on Macdougal Street and a three-year managerial role at a Domino’s Pizza on Long Island, where he learned marketing skills, Frank seized the opportunity of a lifetime and, in 2003, bought East Village Pizza when it was for sale. Frank’s journey is a testament to the American Dream—immigrating to the United States driven by an unwavering determination for success and reinforcing that with hard work, anything is possible. Now, East Village Pizza is a cornerstone in the NYC pizza scene. Under Frank’s leadership, the pizzeria continues to be celebrated for its quality and taste. Frank believes in sourcing the freshest high-quality ingredients and crafting unique, innovative menu offerings—such as signature cheesy garlic knots and double-stacked pizzas—that deliver on flavor, freshness, and value. Frank’s journey is defined by dedication and a hands-on approach to all aspects of the business. From making his own ingredients to personally overseeing each pizza, Frank ensures that quality is never compromised. His commitment to making really good pizza shines through in each pie, and he continuously experiments with flavors and techniques to deliver the best possible product to his customers.
