Trini Bites is a Black, Woman-owned, NYS MWBE (Minority Woman Owned Enterprise) certified, Trinidadian catering service and pop-up vendor. Located on Long Island, NY, Trini Bites serves the Long Island, greater New York City area and beyond with food from the island of my ancestry, Trinidad and Tobago. Our food, with its rich culinary tapestry of African, Indian, Asian, European influences, has often been overlooked as a delectable cuisine on its own and is often lost within pan Caribbean menus.
From curry shrimp wontons to fresh mango chow, each of the dishes are rooted in love, steeped in tradition, with a modern eclectic twist. Longing for the food from my culture after my newly created family relocated from Brooklyn, NY to Long Island over a decade ago, my passion for starting a Trinidadian food concept came to life. Trini Bites was established in 2021 and has operated in various business models, stemming from weekend pop-ups, operating our food truck, participating in multiple small and large scale events, such as Smorgasburg, the NYC and Charleston (SC) Food and Wine Festival, to exclusively catering for weddings, corporate events, graduations, birthdays, religious ceremonies, etc.
A registered nurse by trade, my recipes were either homegrown or handed down from my parents and mother-in-law, all of which hail from the twin islands of Trinidad and Tobago. While it is still a small business, we are privileged to have had and continue to have a multitude of incredible experiences, as we continue to take Trinidadian food to places and spaces it is often not seen or heard. I like to say that we are amplifying the voice of this amazing island, one exquisite Trini bite at a time.
